Charging up and catching your fall
How the charging station and the tumble-wings upgrade work in R.E.P.O., so a battery is topped up knowingly and a fall is survived on purpose.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A charging station in the shop
- Something to charge
- The tumble wings bought, if you have them
Steps
- Put the item in the station rather than beside it.
the station has a body and a subtle light, and it takes an item - Read the bar while it charges, because charging is drawn in segments.
it charges in segments along a curve and lights a bar of its own - Know that a crystal can break, and that it is audible.
it holds a crystal cylinder and a set of crystals, and it has a sound for a power crystal breaking - Do not stand in the beam.
it works with a laser mesh, a laser point and a line drawn between two points - Remember the wings belong to your avatar rather than to an item slot.
the upgrade refers to the player avatar it belongs to - Expect the wings to be built from a left and a right.
the wings have a transform of their own with a left and a right wing transform - Use the light and the sound to tell whether the wings are out.
there is a light belonging to the wings and a looping sound played from a local audio source
Common mistakes
- Leaving an item next to the station and assuming it charged.
- Standing where the beam points.
- Forgetting that the wings are an avatar upgrade rather than a carried tool.
- Missing that the wings are lit and audible, and so can be checked without looking.
