Pointing a tracker at the right thing
How to get useful answers out of the valuable tracker in R.E.P.O., given that it is a device you aim rather than a marker you read.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A tracker in the crew
- Something you are trying to find
- A moment when the room is quiet enough to listen
Steps
- Aim it rather than holding it up, because it has a nozzle.
the tracker has a nozzle with a light of its own - Watch the screen as well as listening to it.
it carries a display and a text readout - Learn the found and the lost signals before you rely on it.
the game keeps separate sounds and colours for each - Use it in the dark, since it lights itself.
both the nozzle and the display carry lights - Treat it as one item among several rather than the only tool.
the tracker is one of many carried items
Common mistakes
- Holding the tracker without pointing it at anything.
- Reading the screen and ignoring the sound.
- Carrying a tracker instead of something that moves loot.
