Using a vehicle as a weapon without wrecking it
How to hit things with a vehicle in R.E.P.O. while keeping the vehicle and yourself in one piece.

Before you start
- A vehicle you can drive
- Room to build up some speed
- The understanding that the vehicle is an item you can lose
Steps
- Decide which size of hit you are going for before you commit.
small, medium and big impacts each have a threshold and a required distance of their own - Hit on purpose rather than repeatedly, because impacts are watched over a window and then cooled down.
impact detection runs over a window with a cooldown and a cooldown per kind - Count the cost of a big hit before taking it.
durability loss is scaled by a multiplier with a separate amount for each size of impact - Give monsters their own time between hits.
each size of impact has its own durability cooldown for enemies - Aim the part of the vehicle that actually hits.
the vehicle carries hurt colliders of three sizes and an impact box of its own - Keep it upright while you line the hit up.
stabilisation is a force with angular drag, a maximum tilt angle, a correction torque and lift - Respect the speed limits rather than holding the throttle down.
speed is limited by both a soft and a hard maximum with limits on the body's velocity - Recover deliberately if you lose control.
the vehicle is an item with a state and a timer of its own
Common mistakes
- Ramming at full speed and paying for the biggest durability loss there is.
- Hitting in bursts and then wondering why nothing registers during the cooldown.
- Forgetting the vehicle is an item and treating it as scenery.
- Lining up a hit and rolling the vehicle instead.
