Guide
Watching a run after you go down
How to stay useful in R.E.P.O. once you are spectating rather than playing, using the player list, the voice channel and the extraction readout.
Applies to
0.4.0, read from the copy of the game this site was built from (see the sources page)
Before you start
- A crew run in progress
- A headset if you want to talk
- The understanding that the crew can still finish without you
Steps
- Expect to keep watching rather than dropping out of the run.
the game keeps a flag for a player spectating rather than playing - Use the menu's player list to see who is still up.
the menu can list players, and each listed entry has a name and a head of its own - Read the connection figure on a row rather than guessing who is lagging.
a row carries a ping figure as text - Watch the crowning on a row, and know it can be forced.
a row can be crowned on the left and on the right, and a crown can be forced onto it - Make your own row readable so the crew can find you at a glance.
a listed name can be drawn bright - Keep talking, because voice is part of the same networking the run uses.
voice comes through the game's networking library with a voice box of its own - Watch extraction readiness rather than asking whether it is time to leave.
readiness is a state with flags and a localised label of its own - Remember the lobby can keep the kinds of lobby you have saved.
the game keeps lobby types that have been saved and a lobby menu of its own
Common mistakes
- Sitting silent because you are not the one holding the valuables.
- Guessing who is lagging instead of reading the row.
- Missing that the crew is extraction-ready because you were watching the wrong thing.
- Dropping out of the run rather than spectating the rest of it.
