The gear you carry
A walkie-talkie is a defined item you can carry.
R.E.P.O. is a game about carrying things, including your own equipment: the game defines a walkie-talkie, a revive item, a ladder and a rideable vehicle as separate pieces of gear.
What the game establishes
- A walkie-talkie is a defined item you can carry. (checked against the game's own files)
- Reviving a crew member uses a dedicated item. (checked against the game's own files)
- A ladder is its own piece of gear. (checked against the game's own files)
- There is a rideable vehicle item. (checked against the game's own files)
- Every item carries a name and a localised name, a type, an emoji icon, a maximum amount and a maximum in the shop, a minimum crew size, purchase limits, a spawn rotation offset and a flag for being a physical object. (checked against the game's own files)
- A carried item carries its own icon, obstruction layers and emoji, a flag for whether it pings an inventory and one for playing that ping for everyone. (checked against the game's own files)
In play
Gear is made of individual items rather than one inventory screen, so what you bring is a physical decision about the run.
A revive item is its own object, which is why bringing someone back is tied to having the item rather than being a free action.
Some gear moves you rather than your hands: a ladder and a rideable vehicle are their own objects too.
Every piece of gear is described the same way. An item carries a name and a localised name, a type, an emoji icon, a maximum amount and a maximum in the shop, a minimum crew size and purchase limits, a spawn rotation offset and a flag for whether it is a physical object, which is why the same machinery serves a walkie-talkie and a ladder.
Gear is shown and announced as well as carried. An equippable item has its own icon, obstruction layers and emoji, and carries a flag for whether it pings an inventory and one for whether that ping is played for everybody, which is why a crew can be told about a find.
What this entry does not tell you: prices, how many items you can carry or how much a revive restores. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
