The exploding rubber duck
The duck is an item of its own with its own behaviour.
Not every item in R.E.P.O. is a tool: the game ships a rubber duck that quacks, can be squeezed, and explodes, with a broken and an unbroken state of its own.

In play
The duck is an item of its own. The game ships it as its own object rather than as a reskinned weapon, which is why it behaves unlike anything else you carry.
It makes duck noises. The duck has a quack, a squeak and a loop of its own, which is why it announces itself rather than arriving quietly.
It can explode. The game keeps an explosion sound for it, and a version of that sound heard across the whole level, so a duck going off is something everybody notices.
It has two states. The duck has a broken and an unbroken version of itself, which is why the object changes rather than simply disappearing.
It still hurts. The duck carries a hurt volume of its own, so it is not purely decorative even before it goes off.
It is one of a wide set. The game ships a range of carried items from tools to novelties, which is why what a crew brings is a choice rather than a fixed kit.
What this entry does not tell you: how much damage it does, how long the fuse is, or what it costs. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
