The leaf blower

The blower is its own item with a fan rather than being a reskinned gun.

The leaf blower in R.E.P.O. is a tool with a fan rather than a weapon: the game gives it its own blowing particles, its own loop sounds, and battery use that rises when it hits something.

What the game establishes

In play

The blower is its own item. The game ships it with a fan and its own particles rather than as a reskinned gun, which is why it moves things instead of damaging them.

It blows visibly. The blower has its own blow particles and a grab area of its own, which is why what it does to an object can be seen rather than only felt.

It runs on a battery. The blower carries a battery drain rate of its own, so it is one of the tools that makes charge worth carrying.

Hitting something costs more. There is a separate drain for hitting a monster, which is why using it as a weapon runs the battery down faster than using it as a tool.

It announces itself. The blower has an on sound, an off sound, and a start and end for its blowing loop, so you can hear whether it is running.

It can hurt. The blower carries a hurt volume of its own, so it is not purely a tool even though it is built to move things.

What this entry does not tell you: how far it reaches, how much damage it does, or how long a battery lasts. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
