The numbers that float over things
The floating value text has an intro and an outro curve.
R.E.P.O. shows value in the world rather than only in a menu: the game keeps a floating text object with an intro and an outro, its own colours and sizes for a value and for a cost.
What the game establishes
- The floating value text has an intro and an outro curve. (checked against the game's own files)
- It carries one colour for a value and another for a cost. (checked against the game's own files)
- It has one text size for a value and another for a cost. (checked against the game's own files)
- There is a world-space interface parent and a separate object for value that has been lost. (checked against the game's own files)
In play
Not all information in R.E.P.O. is in a panel. Some of it floats in the world, attached to what it is describing, and that floating text is an object of its own with parts of its own.
It arrives and leaves with a curve. There is a curve for coming in and a curve for going out, which is how value can fade up over a crate and disappear again rather than appearing and vanishing in a frame.
It has two colours. One is for a value and one is for a cost, which is how the same piece of floating text can mean a gain or a loss without a second object being made.
It has two text sizes as well, one for a value and one for a cost. Keeping the sizes apart means a price and a pay-out can be written at different weights without changing what the text is.
It belongs to a world-space interface parent. That is the arrangement that lets the game put interface elements at a place in a level rather than at a place on the screen.
There is a variant for value that has been lost. Keeping a separate object for a loss is how a loss can be drawn differently from a gain rather than only being a different colour.
The value screen documented on the readouts entry is a different thing: that one is part of the interface you read, and this one is attached to what is being read about.
What this entry does not tell you: what the curves look like, how long the text stays, or what colours are used. We have not verified those, so we do not print them.
