The signs that name a station's rooms

The arctic level signs its own rooms: a cafeteria, a research lab and an infirmary each have a plate.

The arctic level in R.E.P.O. is a station that signs its own rooms: a cafeteria, a research lab and an infirmary beside the plant rooms, the departments and the living side, with sign packs of its own.

What the game establishes

In play

The arctic level in R.E.P.O. is not a set of anonymous rooms. It is built as a station and it signs itself as one, with a metal plate for each of its parts, so a player can read what a door leads to before opening it.

The working side of the station is named first. A loading dock, a cargo processing area, a staging area and a vehicle maintenance bay are all signed, which is why the arctic theme reads as somewhere that receives and moves things.

The station has departments of its own. Accounting, botanical research and an exotic materials division are named on plates, so the level has an organisation rather than only rooms.

Its plant is signed as well. A cooling center and a ventilation chamber each have a plate, which is the kind of room a station needs and a manor does not.

People live there too, and that side is signed: living quarters, an observation platform, a recreation room, a testing lab, a maintenance bay and a catwalk.

The rooms a player already knows are named the same way. A cafeteria, a research lab and an infirmary carry plates of their own, so the station's kitchen, its laboratory and its sick bay are part of the same set of signs.

The build keeps other sign sheets beside these: a robot company sign, a library sign, a museum no-smoking sign and two sign pack sheets. That is why the signage is worth reading rather than skimming: what a level hangs on its doors is part of how it is organised.

What this entry does not tell you: how many signs a level places, which room each one leads to, or whether every signed room is reachable. We have not verified those, so we do not print them.
