When a monster looks under something

One of the monsters' states is for looking under things.

Monsters in R.E.P.O. search as well as chase: one of their states is for looking under things, and it is run on two timers, one for waiting and one for looking.

What the game establishes

In play

A monster does not only walk at you. The game keeps a state whose whole job is looking under things, which is why one can stop at a shelf and check beneath it rather than walking past.

The state waits first. There is a shortest and a longest wait before anything happens, so the pause before a check is not fixed and cannot be counted on.

Then it looks. There is a shortest and a longest look of its own, which is why the check takes a range of time rather than a single moment.

Between the two there is no animation to read. What tells you the state is running is that the monster has stopped and is looking, which is exactly the moment to stay put rather than move.

What this entry does not tell you: how long the waits and the looks come to in seconds, or what triggers the state. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
