Before you start
- A route back to the extractor that a vehicle can take
- A crew that knows which of you is driving
- Room to put a plane down again
Steps
- Expect some vehicles in a level to be valuables you can carry out.
the car, the plane and the snow bike are each defined as a valuable, with the usual trap states and rarity level for going off - Look at a car's parts before you decide how to move it.
it has a body, front and rear wheels, a driver with a body and arms, and a curve for each of them - Listen to a car before you trust it to sit still.
it has sounds for the horn and for starting, stopping and running - Expect a car to handle differently once it is moving.
it carries two physical materials, one for standing still and one for moving - Do not expect a plane to stay on the ground if it is going fast.
the plane takes off according to speed, with a lift per unit of speed and a maximum lift force, and it has a cruising speed and a flight speed - Look for the seat if you intend to ride a snow bike out.
the snow bike has a seat, a look-at point and a steering transform - Expect a snow bike to keep a state and a timer, like the machines.
it has a state, a timer with a maximum and a rigid body of its own, along with an engine loop - Treat a tricycle as a monster rather than as loot.
the tricycle arrives with a rider and the game keeps the two together as one monster - Know that its approach is announced, including a bell heard across the level.
it has a bell, a bell heard across the level, a final build-up and a warning given before it acts - Watch the rider's rig, because the wheels shake on a spring of their own.
the rig has wheels and handlebars kept as their own kind of object, with a body, a bell and a pedal crank transform, and the wheels shake on a spring with its own speed and damping
Common mistakes
- Treating a car or a plane as a crate and finding out what it does when it starts.
- Assuming a snow bike is scenery when it has a seat and steering.
- Trying to carry the tricycle out instead of getting out of its way.
- Ignoring the bell, which is the monster telling you where it is.
