The snow bike you can ride out

The snow bike has a state, a timer with a maximum and a rigid body of its own.

One valuable in R.E.P.O. is a snow bike rather than a crate: the game gives it a seat, steering and a look-at point, an engine loop, a grab point and a state with its own timer.

What the game establishes

In play

Not every valuable is a crate or a trinket. One of them is a snow bike, and the game builds it as a machine you can sit on rather than as an object you only carry.

It has a seat, a steering transform and a look-at point. Those three are the parts that turn a model into something rideable: where the player sits, where they steer from and where the view is aimed.

It has a state and a timer with a maximum, so what it is doing is a state with a duration rather than a single action. That is the same arrangement the monsters use for their own behaviour.

It carries a rigid body of its own, which is how a vehicle can be physical: it falls, it slides and it collides rather than only being drawn in the right place.

It has an engine loop. A loop rather than a one-off sound is what makes a running engine continue while the bike is moving rather than restarting with every action.

It has a grab point and a collider for being hurt, so a crew can pick it up to carry it as loot and can also lose it by being attacked while it is on the floor.

Its artwork carries an expedition marking. The texture the game ships for it is a set of panels with the team name printed on them, which is why two arctic bikes look like equipment rather than like scenery.

Put beside the car and the plane, it makes three valuables that are vehicles, and each one is built from the parts its own movement needs rather than from one shared vehicle system.
