Guide

Valuables you can actually use

Which valuables in R.E.P.O. are devices rather than ornaments, and what each of them does: fuel timers, a blade, talking parts, a glow curve and a duck that explodes.

Before you start

Steps

  1. Expect some of what you pick up to be a device rather than an ornament.
the game files a flamethrower, an extinguisher, a jackhammer, an ice saw and a barrel as valuables of their own
  2. Check the fuel before you rely on a device you found.
the flamethrower and the extinguisher keep a fuel timer, a trigger and a sound for running empty
  3. Do not stand behind a jackhammer you have started.
it has start, end and looping sounds with an impact loop, a collider, and particles for dirt and dust
  4. Treat the ice saw and the barrel as traps as much as loot.
both are traps with triggered and active states and a timer, and the saw keeps a blade with its own curve and speed and a collider that hurts
  5. Listen to a valuable that talks, because talking is what it is doing.
the teeth bot has two transforms for talking and spring limbs, and the eye valuable has an eye transform with a rotation threshold
  6. Expect a power crystal to light up on a curve of its own.
it has a centre, a crystal object, a glow curve and a light
  7. Read the game's own naming rather than the shape when you are deciding what counts as loot.
whether an object counts as loot is named by the game rather than decided by how it looks
  8. Do not squeeze a rubber duck you intend to sell.
the duck has a quack, a squeak and a loop, and an explosion with a sound heard across the level
