Valuables that move, glow or talk

The teeth bot has two transforms for talking, a loop sound and spring limbs.

Some of R.E.P.O.'s valuables are small machines rather than props: the teeth bot has talking parts and spring limbs, the eye turns to a limit, the power crystal glows on a curve, the old camera flashes and the scream doll loops its scream.

What the game establishes

In play

Not every valuable is a lifeless object. A group of them are small machines with a motion, a glow or a voice, and the game builds each one from its own parts rather than from one shared effect.

The teeth bot talks. It has two transforms for talking, one for the top half and one for the lower part, a sound that loops while it does, and spring limbs, so it moves and speaks rather than sitting still.

The eye turns. It has an eye transform, a wet loop sound, a threshold it must cross before it starts rotating and a limit on how far it will go, which is why the eye can follow something without ever turning all the way round.

The power crystal glows. It has a centre, a crystal object of its own, a glow curve and a light, so its brightness is a shape drawn over time rather than a fixed setting.

The old camera flashes. It has a sound for the flash and renderers of its own, which is how an object can be a valuable and still behave like a camera.

The cube ball bounces and has a sound of its own for the bounce. The scream doll is the opposite of a single shout: its scream loops rather than being played once.

Money and surplus savings are built the same way. The money valuable carries a burst of its own, and the surplus valuable arrives with coin particles, a sound for appearing and a multiplier it takes with it.

The images beside this entry are the game's own: the colour artwork it ships for the teeth bot, the scream doll and the old camera, each one named for the valuable it belongs to.

What this entry does not tell you: what any of them is worth, how far the eye turns, or how loud they are. We have not verified those numbers, so we do not print them.
